Harley-Davidson Vintage Ads Tractor Trailers
| This was one of my first projects for the Matchbox Collectibles group. One of the other managers didn't have a clue of what to make of the Harley-Davidson reference material and how to make it fit on to a long horizontal billboard side of a tractor trailer. Being a motorcycle guy myself, I quickly saw a pattern in the reference book of ads announcing a new and improved motorcycle engine. The "engine" is what defines a Harley. The graphics, motorcycle illustration, and colors were picked up from the ads themselves. On the back of each trailer there is a side-view drawing of each engine featured on that tractor trailer. ColorComp beautifully followed my layouts.
